MEET THE DEPUTIES

Alivia
Alivia has been dancing since the age of four. She grew up dancing at Campbell Dance Studio, where she made some of her best memories and closest friends. During her years at the studio it was her dream to become a "Dancing Deputy" one day. She has been dancing with the "Deputies" for 3 years now and has made some irreplaceable friendships and memories. She is excited to be on the dance floor for another Frontier Days!!
When not dancing, Alivia works as a receptionist for a plastic surgeon's office in East Lansing. When she’s not dancing she enjoys traveling, walks with her dog Otis, reading, and spending time with her boyfriend Dalton, and her friends and family. Alivia loves being a part of such an amazing group and being able to dance alongside her mom, Melissa. She cannot wait for another year of memories and is thankful for the friendships she’s made over the last few years.
Amber
Amber started dancing when she was in 1st grade at Campbell Dance Studio. Some of her earliest memories are with Lori at dance practice. She has always dreamed of being a part of the "Dancing Deputies" and remembers telling her mom how one day she would be on the float during the Frontier Days parade playing spoons. Finally, her dream came true. Growing up and watching the "Deputies" perform was a highlight of her childhood. Amber is so excited to be back again in her 3rd year performing with the "Dancing Deputies".
Dancing has brought such joy to Amber's life. She loves sharing her love and passion for tap with her kids, Griffin and Harper, and husband Kyle, plus her close family and friends. Her, her husband, and kids love to have random dance parties in the kitchen or break into dance any time she gets caught tapping around the house. She has learned that making time for herself in her busy life helps ground her, especially when life feels chaotic and overwhelming. Being a part of the "Dancing Deputies" has shown her that even as we get older it is important to continue our passions. She is excited to have everyone come down to Frontier Days and celebrate 50 years of the "Dancing Deputies" and witness all the hard work this group continues to put in year after year.

Corrie
Corrie danced with Campbell’s Dance Studio since she was in third grade. During her time at the studio, she always aspired to one day become a "Dancing Deputy". Eventually, that desire came to fruition and now she has been a "Deputy" for 23 years!
She moved to Charleston SC from 2007-2011 to teach middle school science. During that time, she truly understood the role that being a "Dancing Deputy" fills in one’s life. It is not only great exercise, an avenue for performance, and expression of love for dance. It is far more. It’s stress relief, a support system, and a true sisterhood. Things that not everyone always has, and are truly missed when gone. All of these benefits make her especially thankful that the "Deputies" have been able to continue their traditions and performances, even though Campbell’s studio closed.
She is the Assistant Director of Adventure Club for Grand Ledge Public Schools and lives in Delta Township with her partner Sean and fur-kid, Wally.
Heather
Heather had danced at Campbell Dance Studio for 30 years and this year is 12 years as a “Dancing Deputy”. She is a Hairstylist and the very proud owner of The Hair Professionals in downtown Charlotte where she gets to do what she loves everyday with wonderful people. Heather's mom knew her love for dance at just two years old and signed her right up with Mrs. Lori! Heather’s favorite memory about being a “Deputy” would be the first year she performed and the excitement building up to it. After her graduation when she was asked to be a "Dancing Deputy", she called her mom immediately to see what she thought, both so extremely excited- and well here she is, so grateful and still performing! Heather had dreamt of that moment since she started dancing at two years old and to have that dream finally come true was an incredible feeling for her. Heather has cherished her bond with the girls not just as dancers, but as dear friends. Especially Lori, she will always hold such a special place in Heathers heart! She says it’s so exciting when they are performing for their wonderful community... from being in the parade to dancing down at the saloon, while enjoying it all with family and friends. In Heather’s free time she enjoys dancing, traveling, working out, and spending time with her amazing son, Brooks, and wonderful husband Sean going on adventures and making memories! Heather feels so thankful to be apart of this group, especially this year for the 50th! And as she always says “I’m just happy to be here!!!” Xoxo

Jillian
Jillian has been performing with the “Dancing Deputies” since 2008. She started dancing at Campbell Dance Studio when she was four years old and her love for dancing and performing has never stopped. Jillian also has been actively involved in choreography for the group. When not dancing, Jillian loves playing golf with friends and family, enjoying the summer sun with a good book, pool time, and looking forward to warm Florida retreats. In her day to day life, Jillian is the Procurement Operations Manager at the University of Michigan. Go Blue! She feels very blessed to be a part of such an amazing group of women and is proud to perform every year at Frontier Days.
Kassondra
Kassondra is excited to return for another year as a “Dancing Deputy”! She originally joined the studio in 2008 when her daughter started dancing, and with her own dance background, it felt like a natural fit—especially after marrying into the Campbell family. After 10 years as a deputy, she took a break and is thrilled to be back for the special 50th anniversary of the "Dancing Deputies". Kassondra has been married to her husband, Scott, for 26 years and works as a Manager at Auto-Owners Insurance Company.
This milestone year is extra meaningful as she celebrates alongside fellow "Deputy" alumni. Kassondra loves how Frontier Days brings the community together, creating unforgettable memories with friends and family. The support from loved ones and the joy of the town’s celebration are moments she will always cherish.

Kya
Kya grew up in Charlotte and started dancing at Campbell Dance Studio in 2000 at the age of 6. Her first dance taught by Lori was the Boogie Woogie Piggy. The first year Kya saw the "Dancing Deputies" perform at recital, she was just in awe. She told my family that that would be her someday, and it has been a lifelong dream since to be a part of this amazingly talented sisterhood. Kya graduated from Charlotte High School in 2012. She continued dancing for one more year after graduation, and then took 11 years off from dancing while attending college and starting her family.
Kya got married in May of 2024 to my husband Dominic. Together, they have two wonderful boys that amaze us each and every day. Kaizer is 8, and Brinkston is 4. This is Kya's second year as a Dancing Deputy.
"Being a part of this amazingly talented sisterhood is truly
magical. I greatly love and cherish the bond I have with my step-sisters."
Lori

Lori is proud to have been able to continue with her mom, Wilma Campbell’s brainchild, “The Dancing Deputies”. She was an original “Deputy” and was able to be a part of the group all but 2 years while living in California, and 2 more once she hung up her performing shoes in 2022. Lori is returning one mo' time for the year 2025 and is proud to bring the group back to its performing roots. The group is now celebrating 50 years with being part of the Annual Charlotte Frontier Day Festival, and continues to be a community favorite.
Lori has enjoyed the many aspects a group like this offers. She has many memories of being the youngest of the group, taking direction from Wilma, and then progressed to being the one who directed, choreographed and taught the group as well as performing and handling the many necessary behind the scenes details. She is very thankful that her daughter, Holly, was willing and more than able to take charge of managing and contributing to the choreography that continues with the class act that Wilma felt strongly about. It’s been a treat to have this years entire group of “Dancing Deputies” come up through the Campbell Dance Studio and be proud of the heritage the group represents. Lori has stepped back into the drivers seat and is leading the group full force to take this years "Dancing Deputies" back to its roots to put on a show. She wishes she had kept track of all the planning hours, the brainstorming time, costume shopping, music choices, music editing, reaching out to sponsors, extra rehearsal time. It’s been a commitment of love and belonging. One that she wouldn’t trade for the world.
It's been a family involved group from the very beginning, with Lori helping with float decoration along with Wilma and her sister, Marion. Lucille Tuckey (music accompaniment), Norm Campbell with his float driving, Mary Jo with her being part of the dance group itself, then Rex with float chores and help with float, along with Ryan and Patrick helping with various duties. If you knew Wilma, you knew it was next to impossible to say “no” to whatever request she may have had. So many rich memories for all of it.
Thank you to the Charlotte Frontier Day Board and our sponsors for your continued love and support of this group. What a wild ride these 50 years have been!

Malia
Malia began dancing with Lori in 2001 at the age of three. Her mother had been a "Dancing Deputy" since before Malia's birth, which allowed her to spend much of her childhood with the group. In 2016, during her senior year of high school, Malia had the opportunity to dance alongside her mother and officially joined the sisterhood. She describes attending dance each week as a form of therapy, where she can express herself, receive advice and support, and enjoy the joy of dancing and being carefree.
Malia is following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father by working at the family business, Frank's Food Mart in Potterville. She married in 2023 and welcomed her first daughter, Ezlynn, at the beginning of this year. In her free time, she enjoys a variety of sports such as golfing, wakeboarding, surfing, and snow skiing; however, her favorite pastime is cherishing moments with her family.
Melissa
Melissa has been performing with the “Dancing Deputies” since 2017. She started dancing at Campbell Dance studio at 5 years old, and her love of dancing grows more every year as a "deputy". Melissa is so proud to be a part of the group this year, and to be able to celebrate the "Deputies" 50th anniversary of performing at Frontier Days! Being a "Deputy" was always an aspiration for Melissa while growing up in the studio and has brought so many wonderful memories.
While not dancing, Melissa works as an M.A. for a plastic surgeon’s office in East Lansing. She enjoys cooking, baking, gardening, and last but not least, spending time with her friends, family, daughter Alivia, and her fiance' Mike (who might be the "Deputies"’ biggest fan)
Here’s to the best year yet!

Sidena
Sidena began dancing at Campbell Dance Studios at the age of three, where she
discovered her love of dance. She danced with the studio until it closed its doors in
2019. Growing up in the studio, Sidena has always dreamed of becoming a "Dancing Deputy". She is back for her second year as a "Deputy" and is so excited to be living her childhood Dream!
Outside of dance, Sidena works as a Personal Lines Specialist at the Mark Voss Farm
Bureau Agency. She lives in Eaton Rapids with her fiancé Parker, and their two cats,
Clarke and Bailey.
Taylor
Taylor started dancing at Campbell’s Dancing Studio when she was 3 years old, which sparked her love for music and dance. Ever since she can remember, she dreamed of being a "Dancing Deputy". When the studio closed, she had lost hope on her dream. However, that hope was restored when they rekindled during COVID and she was asked to join the group last minute in 2021. Her heart sparked and her wish finally came true!
Taylor was born and raised in Olivet, and spent most of her childhood playing sports, dancing, and enjoying outdoor activities. After high school, she found a love for environmentalism and went to Adrian College to earn her Bachelor's degree in Biology and Environmental Science, with a minor in Geology. She now shares this passion to communities around Michigan as she helps them divert waste from landfills as a Waste Diversion Specialist. She continues to further her career as she volunteered to become a member of the Eaton County Materials Management Planning Committee, where she is able to share her knowledge and help her community become more “green” in the years to come. Now, if you’ve met her, you know she doesn’t just talk the talk when it comes to sustainability, she WALKS the WALK! Taylor now resides in Eaton Rapids with her high school sweetheart, Jake, where they have two kitties, by dealers choice of course (aka Taylor)!
This will be her fourth year of being a "Dancing Deputy", and it has been everything and more to her! This group of women are not only hilariously fun to be around, but they are the most talented and hard working perfectionists she’s ever met! However, they are also a safe haven. She says, “What a blessing it is to have such an amazing group of women be there for you when you need it most, even if somedays it feels hard to make it to practice. This group of women make it worth it every time. We are truly step-sisters as we always say!”.
Another personal note from Taylor reads below:
“This will be the "Dancing Deputies" 50th year. That is 50 years of amazing, powerful women getting together weekly to share their love, passion, laughter, sweat, and tears. 50 years of continuous community support. 50 years of sisterhood. 50 years of new routines. 50 years of traditions and started by Wilma Campbell. 50 years of goofy performance mistakes that we now look back on and laugh about. 50 years of countless, unforgettable memories that all current and previous "Deputies" hold near and dear to their heart.”
“Thank you Wilma and Lori for continuing your passion for dance even when times were tough, and creating such a unique studio that we were all able to blossom in. Thank you for creating a studio that wasn’t built around competition, but about learning life lessons through it all. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy other sports, as many other studios wouldn’t have allowed. Thank you for sharing your visions and love with us, there are no words to describe what they have done for us and the community. You’ve touched and changed our lives in so many ways, and allowed for 50 years of women to be a part of something magical! We are so excited for this year, so come out and support us as we try to share with you what 50 years of dancing looks to us! ❤️”
